How To Get Rid of Mold In Your Shower

Dealing with shower mold in Lee County, Mississippi, can often be overwhelming. However, the good news is that there are plenty of quick and easy solutions available to you.

Here are three tips on how to get rid of black mold in your shower.

1. Create a Mold Removal Solution

One of the most effective ways to remove shower mold is to create a mold cleanup solution. There are three main types of solutions:

  • white vinegar
  • borax
  • bleach

White vinegar is a great option to remove the mold because it's safe and nontoxic. All you have to do is pour some vinegar into a spray bottle and apply it to the affected areas. Similar to white vinegar, a solution of borax and water can be used to spray over any moldy surfaces. While bleach is an effective method to kill black mold, it should only be used as a last resort due to its toxic and irritating fumes.

2. Use a Scrub Brush

If your mold removal solution isn't able to target the hard-to-reach areas of your bathroom, a scrub brush can do the trick. Simply scrub the affected areas of your shower until the mold is gone. You can even use a toothbrush to scrub grout or caulking, which are common sources of mold but hard to reach with a large scrub brush. Be sure to rinse the toothbrush afterward, as this prevents spores from spreading throughout your bathroom. Contacting mold remediation specialists can help you target any remaining mold and stave off future growth.

3. Ventilate Your Bathroom

Once you've removed any existing mold from your bathroom, you'll want to prevent further spores from forming. Because mold thrives in humid environments, turning on the bathroom fan while showering is an effective way to reduce steam and moisture. You can also open the window immediately after showering, as this can allow the excess evaporation to escape.

Although the mold removal process differs for each scenario, the general blueprint remains the same. Using these three tips can help you both remove shower mold and prevent its recurrence.
