-It's almost springtime here in Tupelo and the surrounding areas, but we have a large chance of snow tonight! March 11, 2022
Winter weather can bring about more issues than just slippery roads and heavy snow to shovel. With the sudden drop in temperature and immediate increase, we are at risk of pipes bursting, which can cause a major water damage disaster at your house or business.
With the extreme cold comes an increased risk for frozen pipes in cooler areas of your home or your business. Here are some tips to help prevent pipes in areas such as basements, attics, garages, and kitchen cabinets from freezing during the coming cold snap:
- Open faucets slightly to let water drip or slowly trickle during extreme cold.
- Consider insulating pipes in cold areas of your home like crawlspaces or attics.
- Keep your heat set to a consistent temperature 24/7.
- Open kitchen cabinets to let warm air circulate near the plumbing, especially those cabinets near outside walls.
